FRUITS OF GOD'S GRACE

Expository: Titus 2:11-3:15.

   INTRODUCTION:

       A.  Paul wanted to motivate a young man to the point that he could withstand
the pressures that were placed upon him because of his work.

       B.  Paul bases his exhortations and demands upon the dynamics of the
gospel as he unfolds the connection between the grace of God and the
            improving conduct of the Christians.

       C.  GRACE means - unmerited favor; the outgoing of God's favor to the
             unworthy.

       D.  The true meaning of grace is seen in the changes which come over the
             regenerated Christian.

       E.  In the lessons, let's study through the book of Titus and find these FRUITS
OF GOD'S GRACE that motivated a young man to such great service in
the Kingdom of God.  Maybe we too can be motivated to serve more
            diligently.

   I.  THE GRACE OF GOD BRINGS SALVATION TO ALL MEN - 2:11.

       A.  "All men" - means: all classes of men...from kings to servants...all colors.

       B.  Ephesians 2:8-9 - Man is saved by grace.

            1.  This doesn't nullify the blood of Jesus.  It shows why it was shed.

       C.  Paul wanted Titus to see that salvation is the starting point of
             reconstruction of human conduct.

            1.  Man's life can be pieced back together after having been shattered
                 by sin.

       D.  Because of God's grace, man doesn't have to fear.

       E.  Salvation is necessary for one to be:

            1.  "In the likeness of Christ" - Romans 6.

            2.  "Without condemnation" - Romans 8:1.

            3.  To produce the fruits of the Spirit - Galatians 5.

                 a.  An understanding of God's grace suppresses improper desires ...
(to wealth, honor, pleasure, senusal indulgences, etc.).

       B.  Instructs toward GOOD conduct.

            1.  "Live soberly" - refers to the power of the human personality over its
                 impulsive self.

                 a.  It means that the regenerated man, the Christian, is winning the
battle to bring his whole being in control under Christ.

                 b.  Sobriety is greatly needed as proof of salvation.

            2.  "Live righteously" - refers to a right relationship to all persons.
