Today, let's search out some ingredients for revival from the
Old
I. REDISCOVERY OF GOD'S BOOK. A. II Kings 22:8.
1. Josiah wanted reform but could not seem to make things happen
fast
2. The discovery of the book of the law was the answer. B. Neh. 8:1-6 - note the respect for the Word. C. Many today are hungry for God's ways. 1. Cannot be found in tradition, subjective feelings, or the "family religion." 2. We need to re-discover God's book. D. The importance of knowledge. 1. Isaiah 5:13. 2. Hosea 4:6. E.
"Church going" alone does not insure one of learning God's book.
II. A GREAT SEARCHING OF THE HEART. A. Ezra 9:5-9. B.
Before we can hope for a revival, a vibrant spirit, we must realize

Matthew 16:24 - "...follow me..." C. John 10 - Jesus the Good Shepherd - leader. D. A church that does not have proper leadership has trouble. IV. PEOPLE THAT WILL FOLLOW. A. Judges 5:2 - people offered themselves willingly. B. Hebrews 13:17 - submit. C. I Peter 5:5-6. V. PEOPLE WITH A MIND TO WORK. A. Neh. 4:6. B. I Thess. 5:12-22. VI. REALIZE THAT YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW. A. Galatians 6:7. B. Matthew 6:1-18. C. To have a revival you must contribute something toward change. CONCLUSION: A. Are you looking for a revival in your life? B. Are you looking for a revival in this congregation? C. Are you willing to do your part? D. Do you even care? |
